Copyright is the means by which a person or a business makes a living from creativity. Copyright springs from a simple notion: the people that create, produce or invest in creative work should be the ones that decide how that work should be reproduced and made available to the public.
Optical Digital Media Limited need to ensure that the material its client present is either free of all copyright or the client has obtained all relevant licenses and permission from the holders of the copyright. This is true of all types of content, such as audio, video, images or logos.
All material created by Optical Digital Media Limited for its clients will be either free of copyright or all relevant licenses and permission will have been obtained.
Audio Productions
In order to comply with copyright regulations, the following rights must be secured;
- The rights of the music composer and publisher.
These rights are controlled by collecting agencies throughout the world. In the UK this is MCPS (mechanical copyright protection society)
- The rights of the sound or performance recording.
The rights are usually held by the record label or company and permission for use must be gained by the artist involved.
These rights apply to music or sound recordings in whatever manner they appear within the production (such as sound clips, backing track or cover versions)
Video and Image Production
Before any image, either moving or still can be used for any part of a CD or DVD project, rights of use must be arranged with the owner of the copyright. This relates to artwork for disc and packaging as well as any images used within the disc content.
Optical Digital Media Limited insists on signed indemnity statements from its client before any production can commence. If you have any questions regarding these issues please contact us. |
